These Terms of Use (also called Terms of Service) govern your use of The Praying App ("Praying" or "the Service"): the iOS and Android apps, the web app, the church dashboard and this website. The Service is operated by Graystar Labs SRL, a company registered in Romania ("we", "us"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Praying provides an encrypted prayer journal, a Bible reader, an AI Bible companion (Bible Chat), prayer reminders, small groups, church features and a public prayer wall. The Service is provided "as is" and may be updated, modified, or discontinued at any time.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Praying. If you are under the age of digital consent in your country (for example 16 in Romania and some other EU countries), you may use Praying only with the consent of a parent or guardian, who accepts these Terms on your behalf. If we learn that someone is using Praying without meeting these requirements, we will delete the account.
You must provide a valid email address and create a password to use the Service. Your password is also your encryption key. When you create your account, we show you a recovery code. Keep your password and your recovery code safe and private: you are responsible for them and for everything done with your account.
If you forget your password, you can reset it by email, but your existing encrypted content only unlocks again with your recovery code. If you lose both your password and your recovery code, we cannot recover your encrypted data. Nobody can.
Your private content is encrypted on your device using keys derived from your password. We do not possess those keys, so we cannot read, restore or hand over that content. You accept this as a fundamental feature of the Service's security design. Our Privacy Policy explains which content is end-to-end encrypted and which is not.
Bible Chat uses AI to answer questions about Scripture and is intended as a study aid. It is not professional, medical, psychological, legal or pastoral advice, and it is not a substitute for your pastor, a counselor or a doctor. AI answers may be wrong or incomplete. Always check important questions of faith with qualified pastoral leadership.
If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself or someone else, do not rely on Bible Chat. Call your local emergency number (112 anywhere in the EU, 911 in the United States) or a crisis line: in the United States call or text 988; in the United Kingdom and Ireland call Samaritans on 116 123; elsewhere, find a helpline at befrienders.org.
Praying is a place for prayer and encouragement. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. You agree not to post, send or share anything, in any feature where others can see it (prayer wall, comments, groups, church feeds, profiles), that:
You also agree not to attempt to circumvent encryption, billing or access controls, access other users' data, or scrape, reverse-engineer or overload the Service.
Reporting and blocking. You can report any post, comment, message or member, and block any user, from the options menu next to their content. Blocking hides that person's posts, messages and comments from you. Our moderators review reports and remove offending content and suspend the accounts responsible, typically within 24 hours. Serious or repeated violations lead to permanent removal from the Service. Church administrators can also moderate their church's feeds, and group leaders can remove members from their groups. You can also report a problem to support@praying-app.com.
Personal and Family subscriptions are sold only in the mobile apps, through the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android); there is no web checkout for individual plans. Payment is charged to your Apple or Google account when you confirm the purchase.
Church plans are billed by Stripe through the church dashboard at church.praying-app.com. They also renew automatically until cancelled; the person who pays can change or cancel the plan under Billing in the church dashboard.
Refunds are described in our Refund Policy. For store subscriptions, refunds are issued by Apple or Google under their terms.
Church administrators are responsible for managing their community within the Service and for the content they publish, such as announcements and events. Administrators can see their members' names and email addresses and aggregate engagement, but cannot access individual members' private encrypted content. Removing a member revokes church-granted access.
The Service, including its design, code, and branding, belongs to Graystar Labs SRL. Bible text is used under the terms of its respective publishers. Your content remains yours; we claim no ownership over your prayers, journal entries, or conversations. By posting content that others can see, you give us the limited permission needed to store it and show it to the people you shared it with.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you break these Terms, especially the community standards above. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time; see Delete your account.
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We are not liable for data loss resulting from lost passwords or recovery codes, service interruptions, or AI response inaccuracies. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months preceding any claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Romania. Disputes will be heard by the competent courts of Romania, unless the law of your country gives you, as a consumer, the right to bring a claim where you live.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
